Established in 2001, Apna Ghar provides day care service to the elders or, as we like to call them, “the young at heart” of the local BME community. If you or someone you know is 60 or over, we invite you to visit our day-care centre, where our service users can engage others with similar lifestyles. While socializing, you can also enjoy a two-course hot Asian meal everyday. Refreshments are also served throughout the day. With our service, we can provide you with the support to help you continue to live in your own home, or with your family or carer.
Apna Ghar day care centre also gives you access to support and advice, and the chance to meet other people. You can get involved in activities that interest you, and develop new skills. If you have a carer, it will give you both a change of routine.
We also offer support for carers who help look after a relative or friend at home. If a carer is at risk because of stress or health problems for example, we can provide day care for the person they look after.
To encourage elders to use our services, we provide a whole array of activities including:-
- Day trips
- Arts & crafts
- Pool
- Cards
- Aerobics
- Massage
Our achievements so far:-
- The daycare centre has been running successfully for 10 years.
- We were the first to open a daycare service for Asian elders in Rochdale.
- We have over 63 regular service users attending every week.
- We provide a good quality service to the community.
- We also provide in house welfare advice.
- Our service is delivered from a new, £750,000, purpose built building on Belfield Road.
